OUR APPROACH TO GOD
PRELUDE –
WELCOME AND GREETING - Announcements,
Prayer Requests, Praises
(Preparation for Worship)
SILENT REFLECTION / PRAYER
Almighty Father, you have made yourself known to us as Father, Son, and
Holy Spirit. Make yourself known to us such a way that we may
understand your will and purpose for our lives today. We offer our prayers
in the name and spirit of Christ. Amen.
CALL TO WORSHIP
This is the day the Lord has made!
Let us rejoice and be glad in it!
We come that we may worship the God of life together.
We
come to worship the Lord with all our heart, with all our
mind,
and with all our strength.
In times of clouds
and in times of sunshine,
We
worship the God of love and grace.
In times of success
and in times of failure,
We
worship the God who renews our spirit and restores our soul.
We gather now as a
congregation of God’s people,
A people who worship God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
*HYMN #20
Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee
PRAYER OF CONFESSION – (Unison)
Almighty God, though you have raised
Jesus from death to life and crowned him Lord of all, we confess that we have not always acknowledged his rule in our lives. Too easily we have gone along with the ways of the world and failed to live in his
love and walk in his way. Forgive us, we pray, and raise us up from our sin and
grant that we may be your faithful people who know with full confidence that we are loved, and who choose to serve you as
Lord of our whole lives. Amen.
[Silent Prayer of Confession]
ASSURANCE OF PARDON AND OUR CALL TO NEW OBEDIENCE-
By God’s grace, we have this assurance
of his love and forgiveness in our lives:
The spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in us.
Just as God raised Christ from the dead, God will give life to
our mortal bodies by this same spirit living within us.
(from Romans 8:10-11)
Believe this Good News, and live in its power and peace!
We
will not be conformed to this world! We will be transformed
by the renewing of our minds, that we may do the will of God -
whatever is good and acceptable and perfect.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit;
As
it was in the beginning is now, and ever shall be; world without end. Amen.
